Horseback Riding
HORSEBACK RIDING IS A GREAT WAY TO EXPLORE
THE GREAT SMOKY MOUNTAINS
Horseback riding in the Smoky Mountains provides a great workout for both the mind and body. It boosts the cardiovascular system and mentally eases stresses on the mind.
An hour of riding can burn the same amount of calories as a 30-minute jog or bicycle ride. Just being outdoors in the mountain air will boost your general wellbeing and act as a great stress buster. Developing a relationship and sense of trust between yourself and your horse is highly rewarding. Learning to control a horse can have a profound affect on your confidence and is a great feeling.
Guided horseback rides are available at four concession horseback riding stables in the national park from mid-March through late November. You will ride on scenic trails.
Rides last from 45 minutes to several hours. Rates start at $30 per hour.
