You will see this sign at the Cades Cove Entrance. From this point, you go directly into the Cove where you will discover horses available for riding. Enjoy mountain vistas, many hiking trails, rivers, streams, black bear, white-tailed deer, coyote, fox,
and wild turkey. The Cades Cove Loop Road is 11 miles long and is one-way. You will often see bikers riding throughout your journey in the Cove.
Many historic buildings in the Cove depict its cherished history. At the half way point, there is a visitor center in what is known as the Cable Mill area. The historic Cable Mill is still functional, and you will be able to watch it in operation. There is a historic cabin, lots of out buildings, and an old sorghum mill. You may purchase sorghum, fresh ground flour and many other related products at the visitor center.
Townsend, TN is the closest town to the Cades Cove Entrance. Townsend has a number of mom and pop restaurants, several museums, a visitor center, public restrooms, and a bicycle trail.
